Passive income
Every now and then I stumble across a person, who thinks passive income means being paid for something you've done in the past. They think it's like interest payments; you don't have to do anything to collect it indefinitely. Such perception couldn't be father from the truth. I would define passive income as income: that one receives irrespective of time and space constraints (One is free to do the work when he wants and wherever he wants.) AND for which there is no causal relationship between the hours spent working and income. Still, one needs to do the work! If one stops working passive income will sooner or later dry up.
Contribution and recognition
When we set out to change the world for the better our contribution often gets recognized only months or even years after we've already delivered. And that is if we're lucky! Brightest minds like Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, Van Gogh and Nikola Tesla (to name just a few!) only got recognized posthumously. Truly original ideas challenge the status quo, thereby creating a lot of tension. Society defends against new beliefs by refuting the contribution. One by one, members of society begin adopting a new ideas. After some time the contribution is finally recognized. By this time however the creator has already died, often precisely for his contribution! If not, another person often gets the credit. [...]
