When we set out to change the world for the better our contribution often gets recognized only months or even years after we've already delivered. And that is if we're lucky!
Brightest minds like Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, Van Gogh and Nikola Tesla (to name just a few!) only got recognized posthumously.
Truly original ideas challenge the status quo, thereby creating a lot of tension. Society defends against new beliefs by refuting the contribution. One by one, members of society begin adopting a new ideas. After some time the contribution is finally recognized.
By this time however the creator has already died, often precisely for his contribution! If not, another person often gets the credit.
Keep that in mind the next time you think about giving up because your work is not being recognized. If original thinkers thought this way the Earth would still be flat and at the center of our universe. Show your work! You owe it to the universe.
Today's post was certainly inspired by Seth's today's post.
