Privacy and cookie policy

Hey visitor, I - Marko Škerjanc, residing at Rusjanov trg 10, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia - am managing this blog and it’s subsites (“site”). I am not a creep and have no intention of abusing your personal data. Still, the law designates me as your data controller and I am required to present you this fine piece of writing.  I will try to be as brief and funny as possible, of course staying all the time within the borders of what is still considered legal.  I will collect your personal data in three ways:

  1. when you subscribe to my e-mail list,
  2. when you write me an email, or
  3. when you use the site by accepting other than just the necessary cookies.

When I acquire the data under points 1 and 2, I in principle only process your email and name. But, if you decide to share other data with me, then I process such data as well. If you accept all but the necessary cookies (point 3) then I additionally process information like you IP address, the type of device and OS you use etc. In principle I store the data above on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. Please note that some data will be acquired through necessary cookies. Such data will be acquired for the purpose of maintaining site security. In this case the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. In some instances third parties, such as the company hosting the site, the developer, who helps me maintain and further develop the site and company providing site analytics will process your personal data but solely for the purpose of maintaining and developing the site and for analytics. I will in no way transfer your personal data to other third parties, even if they try to bribe me with delicious sweets or arrange a date with a really hot chick.  I will store your personal data, acquired by your consent as long as you don’t withdraw it. I will store the data acquired by cookies for the periods set forth below.

Please note that you can at any time write ma an email to marko.skerjanc@rubikon-law.com and withdraw your consent, receive information about your personal data, require rectification or erasure of your personal data or the objection or restriction of the processing and to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format (data portability).  If you withdraw your consent you will no longer be informed about the new juicy blog posts and books that I review. Please note that the withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.  I really wish it won't come to that and that a beer would solve the problem. Still, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner regarding the processing of your personal data.
