EXCERPTS

I've listened to the Audible narration. I haven't really had a need to make any excerpts. The book is lengthy so only read if you're really interested in Mr. Rockefeller.

What I've found most interesting were the following facts:

  • the social norms are really strong,
  • he wasn't really a leader in a sense that people would voluntarily follow him. They just feared his power,
  • it seems that he succeeded despite not caring for his employees and not treating competitors fairly (Was that possible only in his era or would it still be possible today?),
  • his relationship with his children was TOXIC.
